Students participate in a hybrid format structured bidirectional student exchange program across six collaborating universities in Asia. The educational program contributes toward the realization of sustainable development goals.
P1:COIL-Type Collaborative Education (Introductory course) *Jan.-Feb.
Students of differing backgrounds from all six collaborating universities work together in mixed teams online to learn about diversity and inclusion. The course is built to raise necessary awareness of diversity and intercultural understanding in Asia.

P2:Short Term Exchange (Face-to-Face Learning) *Sep. or Feb.
Hiroshima University students visit collaborating universities through either the East Asia -course (China and South Korea) or Southeast Asia –course (Thailand and Indonesia) where they will learn about themes each university specializes in, and which relate to bringing forth an inclusive society. Students will participate in cooperative learning alongside local students and go on observational visits to off-campus locations.
*Due to the countermeasures for Covid-19, the short term exchange to Indonesia was done in Sep. 2022, and a program to Korea and anther to Thailand were done in Feb-Mar.

P3:Summer School (Face-to-Face Learning) *Aug
Students from five countries and five fields gather to learn about diversity and inclusion within Asia at Hiroshima University’s summer school. Students will have an opportunity to learn about innovative research, science and technology targeting the realization of an inclusive society, as well learn about peace – Hiroshima University’s academic specialty.

P4:Medium Term Exchange (Specialized Course) *Inbound from partner universities (from Oct.), Outbound to partner universities (Dep. Jan-Feb)
A student exchange program between collaborating universities for exchange periods longer than three months. Participating students take specialized courses at their exchange university and learn about practical issues relating to the building of an inclusive society in Asia from the perspective of the student’s field of expertise. Additionally, students are offered opportunities to visit local companies, educational institutions, governmental agencies, as well as gain experience via internships. Students conduct international survey research on research themes selected by the students themselves.
