On November 16-17, “Inclusive Sports Festa Hiroshima” was held in Fukuyama City to promote para-sports in Hiroshima Prefecture, and about 20 students from our university participated as volunteers on both days.
Six students studying abroad under this program also participated, and helped the operations of parasprots experiences by citizens of the area on November 17. The sports they were in charge of were boccia and walking football.
Dressed in pink staff shirts created in collaboration with Hiroshima Carp (professional baseball team) and the Hiroshima Parasports Association, the four students helped with the boccia reception, set up the venue, and played games together when there were not enough people. Two worked as receptionists and assisted participants in walking football. At the end of the day, they took a group photo with a Paralympic athlete, Mr. Furumitsu. It made a special day even more.
